E36 blower

Hello ladies

Hope everyone had a good festive season.

Got an issue with the heater/ ac blower.
The control unit switches on, no problem, however the blower motor doesn't blow.
Removed the blower motor, when I connect it directly to a power source it spins like a mutha funker. Reinstall it and when I switch everything on it turns like its buggered or the bearings are seized up, to slow to even create a breeze. The final stage modulator gets hot when I switch the unit on, I assume that that is working.

Any ideas on what I can try or do?

its the final stage resistor or blower resistor, i bought one for my E46 at about R600 from Goldwagen . Replaced it my self it was a K%k job but it can be done.

Yeah I've dropped my dash already, is there a way to test the resistor, when I turn everything on, mine gets hot, I know it suppose to get hot because of the heat sink design.... But is there a way to test or do I just sucker punch the replacement and hope it works.

Your test of applying direct power to the blower is good enough to prove that the motor is fine and the resistor is stuffed. Normally, the highest speed selected applies direct battery voltage to the motor.
Hope this diagram helps, you could measure the resistor values and compare.
