So what do i have to do to get rid of the light on the dash? Unhook the battery? Code reset? New sensors?

Why did the light come on Ironblaze?

The other day I wanted to change my steering wheel, and Freerider and myself disconnected the battery before work started. Swopped out the wheel, re connected and all good.

I don't know if disconnecting the battery afterwards will cancel the light. Try it, disconnect the battery for 15 to 20 minutes.

Failing that, unfortunately you will need to have it reset.

It's always been on, just never bothered to do anything about it.

How much is the dealer likely to charge?

And you not worried that it could indicate that one of your airbags is not working?

Happened to me and my passenger seat sensor had to be replaced. Dealer had to do it as normal guy who did my service could not get in to find fault.

You know that if the airbag light is on the airbags wont function hey.
I had my E36 airbag light on a couple of times because of the guys at the carwash, when they vacuum they pull on the cables & when I start the car....nice airbag light is on again...
I usually go around to zeemax in cape town for the reset as they are always ever so friendly to help me & not charging me...must be because I'm such a good customer :)

hey u guys are lucky. When I bought my E36 a few months ago I did not even realise that the airbag light never ever went on. Only till I was in another dude's car did I notice...so does that mean my car was in an accident & that why it disconnected??? Crap I hope not. then I'd have 2 sell:(

The light is not on? That's a good thing, you don't want the light to be on.

I think what he means is that the light doesn't go on momentarily when you turn on the ignition, ie in other cars, when you turn on the ignition a whole bunch of lights go on including airbag and seat belt lights. Perhaps he means that on his car it never goes on, which suggests it might be disconnected... etc etc
