I'm looking for a e36 6cyl so either a 325i or 328i...i previously owned a 328i cab. What i want to know is what are the major differences between the two? I've obviously had experience with the 2.8 so will the 2.5 disappoint me? What is the fuel economy difference between the two, and in real world driving is the 2.8 much faster?

I have a '92 325i pre vanos and a '96 328i both manual . the 325i has a 3.46 diff ,rest standard . the 328i is faster both through gears and in the same gear . I get about 10 km/l with 328i in mixed driving , 325i was heavier . I prefered 325i rotary fan controls .Both seem reliable .

I think it would be better going for the 328i similar power between it and the 325i, but the 328 has a more torque and delivers it better.

I prefer the 328i since i've had experience with one and i loved it. Mine was also a 96 model but it was a drop-top, i've heard they're slower than the hard top versions too. What do 328 models go for? I don't want to be ripped-off. Can't wait to get back in my own beemer!
