e36 325 convertible - wheels gaps

Hello all

my 325 vert has different gaps between tyre and fender at all 4 ends !
3 fingers driver side front, 2 fingers passenger side front, 2 fingers driver side rear. no fingers passenger side rear.

any bump and rear passenger tyre scrapes the wheel well.

how do i fix this ? do i need springs and shocks ? Where can i get standard replacement in centurion area ?

dont take short cuts, I had same issue with my merc, check it out at specialist 1st, I replaced all shocks and I had springs made to my personal height cos I have 18s on a w202, golden springworks in jhb, used to be called van zyl springs, I have no issues now and springs at dealers can be expensive.

Something definitely doesn't sound right.... from your description, the passenger side is sitting lower then the drivers side of the car and normally it suppose to be the other way.

Similiar problem with e30. Check your spring pads

If i remember correctly on the E36 the left hand side always sat lower on than the right hand side in the front to compensate for when a driver is in the car, it balances it off. Read this in one of the Tech Specs for the E36...just need to find it and i will post

Mine and quite a few others i know tend to sag on the right, there is a thread somewhere on the forum that explains why...bettery,driver etc...all on the right of the car

As far as I know, the car was designed for left hand drive, so the left hand side was slightly higher, and they never corrected this for the right hand drive market. I have read the same thing as you I think.

Funny I have the exact same problem and have no idea where to start looking (not mechanically minded at all) any place in Randburg anyone can suggest ?

I had new springs fitted...all is well now:thumbs:

agree replace the springs... I have H&R and koni springs i you interested... depending on how much is sagging you might already have the same ride height as lowering springs just with the wrong spring rate :rollsmile:

I bought my car with 40mm Bilstein springs, however the drivers side is still lower.... how does one adjust the spring rate ???

you cant adjust spring rate its how the springs are made...

i mentioned spring rate because if the springs are sagging they dont have the right spring rate...

it does seem this car does ride a little lower on the driverside... if it bothers you get some inserts made to fit the spring perch and raise the low side
