E36 323i engine trouble

Hallo all Fanatics.

I have trouble with my engine.I drive a e36 323i M52B25 engine.The car doesn't idle stead(hot or cold).fuel consumption is very bad.I can smell the petrol fumes.I bought it like this and the previous owner installed a free flow exhaust.I changed the crank sensor because i was advised to do so,still no change.The car does not have the power its suppose to have.As the revs climb the car just feels held back.I can actually see the rev gauge stopping and climbing and stopping and climbing.

Please Help!!!

Should i try to clean it or what?
Also another thing,what happens if i played with the 2 small cables close to the MAF? i dont even know what they do.im still learning

you can try clean it with maf cleaner or with electronics cleaner. some have even used carb cleaner. it has worked great for me... but theres no guarantee it'll solve your issue.

but do this first, unplug the maf, and take a short drive. if the car drives fine, your MAF is fooked.

Did you try unplugging it?

Check the O2 sensors they may be damaged or missing form the exhaust shop work

also the engine will not run right if they are swapped around
