e34 sunroof not working

Hi guys
I have a option to buy no 72 of the 540i 6 speed , but the sunroof does not work . Is this a mission to fix - I have not seen the car -will have to go from East London to Durbs to look at it .

mechanical or electrical ?

If electrical its really easy to fix, scrapyards have these in drones (meaning worst case scenario it being the motor)

Its more then likey fuse.

If it is mechanical it may be a pita, as you dont know what bent/stripped/where the pidgeons are ?

In order to put your mind at ease, I covered the the hood with synthetic suede. My assistant did not put the sunroof properly so as you can imagine as i took off the sunroof flipped open.

If there is any fanatic this side of the world they are more than welcomed to view the car on your behalf.....

That sounds like you need a new mechanism and roof.

I got hold of a complete sunroof from a fellow fanatic . I put cardboard over the seats and pulled the rooflining and sunroof out . After putting the new one in I can say that it is not a challenging job as long as you are careful not to drop items onto the seats or scratch anything .
If I had to do it again I would remove the passenger seat before the job .
Everything works ok , I just had to set the lid's height at rest .
