E34, possible worn subframe bushes

Hi, I've been experiencing a back and forth rocking motion when accelerating <40kph (24mph). It occurs mostly in 2nd or 3rd gear when letting off the gas and then applying gas again. Or when pulling away slowly. It is almost as if the subframe is rocking underneath the car.

Could this be a symptom of failed rear subframe bushes, shocks, pitman arms, diff bushings, etc?

In October last year I replaced:
pitmans arms
sway bar bushings

Please give me your symptoms of worn subframe bushings or shocks for me to compare/evaluate.

Hi,

have a look at number 2 on your car, they may be worn.

Thanks. Now that you've mentioned this, I am considering taking the whole subframe off and replacing the following:
  • trailing arm bushes
  • subframe bushes
  • differential bushes
  • strut tower mountings and struts

I'm still waiting for my brother to make some space in his garage and time to assist.

I actually can't wait because you guys tell me that that the difference is noticeable. :(

I shook the car at the rear to listen for sounds or movement coming from the subframe bush area. I can't really say, but maybe you guys can tell me what you think it is coming from.
