torque can always be replaced with a mod or two. Engine is almost near stock. will start instaling all the parts i have for the 3.8
Will it have less hp with the 3.8 cam pulies but more torque ? then to compensate that a tms chip and 3.8 intake and itb"s

also maybe the tms branches and 3.8 exhaust with the scrick cams

Yes it will since the 3.6 has 110deg lobe separation whereas the 3.8 has 108 -> More overlap = more midrange torque/less ultimate HP
3.8 intake is exactly the same, although the 3.8 ITBs are 2mm bigger

2mm does not seem much. would u recomend taking them to a machine shop and have them opend up a bit ?

Haha ok my bad. its quite a significant increase. But would u recomend opening it up any way ? more power the better

No. Except if you intend to rev it up to 9k RPM + wild cams with massive lift and duration + massive valves + massive spring rates + massive ports + massive headers ect. You get the picture:thumbs:

I believe it was possible in the race prepped engines, but reliability becomes exponentially worse after the std 7000 redline and cost would be insane for the parts to get it there. Drivability goes out the window as well

Mmmm not worth it then. want the most power posible but keeping reliability and keeping it normal aspirated. I am hoping 400hp regeon, is that posible ? thinking of slightly higher c/r pistons with stroker crank aswell

Ok so last week ive orderd a 6speed 3.8 trany and compleat clutch kit with master and slave kits aswel from the uk, also sent the 3.8 itb's in with the head to open up the ports and larger valves then match the itb's to the head with an aditional 1.5mm larger opening on itb's. With that ive sent the scrick cams and 3.8 pullies all to be asembeld. Drove around in my kia sportage the whole of last week and left the M5 back at home in the south coast. Last week the couries droped off my trany at work and head was done on tuesday. Picked the head up on friday when i left durban to go home to south coast. Got home at 2pm. At witch point my dad already pulled the box for the clutch issue (one of my other threads) I started stripping and removed the stock head. Sunday afternoon the new head was fitted aswell as 6speed tranny , new clutch & preshure plate, tms branches with 3.8 exhaust, tms chip and cold air intake also from tms. Left the southcoast At around 9:30pm Sunday evening.
The result, ok this was done with a small portable deep freeze in the boot full of meat , the months groceries 2 weekend bags my desktop pc and my brother.

If car was empty could have gone more , possibly?

Hahaha i only see it now, economy read out (the leaf on the screan righthand side) sits on a full 0!

Keeping as mutch parts as i can they damn expensive and scarce as chikken teeth. thinking of inporting a 3.8 motor and doing a transplant and building the 3.6 with 5 speed into a e30 325 is...

You will ruin both an iS and do the engine injustice.
Rather start with a 333i if you really have to do a transplant or take a normal shadowline with a s50 M3 engine. Should be just as fast

Trouble is finding a 333i shell to begin with same story for the IS.
Leaning more towards a 325i drop top box with the m5 moter and trany setup. But doubt il have any traction what so ever...:thumbdo::cry:

Geez that is low flying. Seems like the upgrades were worth while.

here are some extra info on s38 tuning http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e34-m5-discussion/106085-m5-3-6-3-8-engine-tuning.html

What are you going to do with your old 5speed?

Will look into those mods. pehaps even build a 400hp+- moter. Wonder what those goodies cost..

The more i think about it the more i doubt that claimed speed of 323km/h
Heck, even an e60 struggles to do those kind of speeds. There is no way in hell an e34 without FI can do that.
Never!!
I dont care what mods were done to this S38...... It cant do it

E60 can do 330+ delimited just shows how much the so claimed experts know. As for the e36 m3 evo, look at the guage under the rev counter.. its wait a oil temp where the smg has a led display of gearbox mode and gear. So why ask the change when it did not. Also u say no ways a s38 can do 300kmh+ Here some pics of others with minimal mods doing the same..

and some e60's

But hey believe the one that sais e60 can bearly do those speeds.
Im not here for anyones aproval, that said my knolage on bmw's and cars tends to be more than most for a 21 year old. So mock all anyone wants purdy much dont care. And reason for gps speed was cuz it tends to be more accurate but hey just saying.:tease:
