E34 Clear Indicators + Repair adjuster

Hi All,

Another job done, that was installing a set of clears into the E34.

But first we had to fix the broken automatic light adjuster as well, what happened is that it was just turning, and never stopped. We went hunting in numerous scrap yards to try and find a replacement motor, but they were all in horrid condition. from the sun, or broken off completly.

So we figured we will just strip out the innards, and use that to replace ours.

The part laying off to the left on the white piece of paper, that is what was faulty, its sort of a position indicator that stops the motor from turning when a certian mechanical position has been reached. Replaced that out with the one we got from the yard, superglue the housing closed, and some cable ties just to keep in place as the housing dries, and your sorted.

Right...

Lets talk about the clears.
The clears can be removed from the inside of the bonnet, one side removing the airbox, the other being a bit more trickey.

However we chose to remove the entire front as hardly anything was tied/screwed down.

Removing the front grill is of course the hardest. there are two clips that hold the grill in place on either side that needs to be pushed down. Its hard to describe, but you can phone me and I'll explain how.

Once that is off, you remove the plastic covering that is over the light, leaving you with this

From there it is pretty easy to take out the light, just follow the bolts and there is one screw on the inside.

Here are the orange and clears together

While you have the entire light cluster out, it is easy to see how to remove the old indicators, and bolt in the new ones, its held on with 2 screws, and a third screw on the insde of the car.

Net result is this

This DIY is kinda short, I will do this all again when I strip off the nose to realign it from a bad panel job, which is why the lights dont sit perfectly and I have that stupid line betweent he bonnet and the grill, but dont stress.... we will get it right :)
