e34 540i (A) PS fluid

Hi guys. Need some help on power steering fluid. The car is an e34 540i Automatic. Looking for an alternative to CHF115 fluid. Any help appreciated. :ty:

You can get it from master parts instead of at he agents who wants a gazillion rands.

At master parts it's a short, fat, 1L green bottle and all the writing is in German. I used to have a pick of the bottle, but I'll see about getting another. I think it was something like R120 per bottle.

The H31 system for the 540is (I assume because of a lack of space for a conventional booster in RHD models) needs Pentosin - no mixing of fluids permitted, unless you want the seventh circle of hell to be unleashed on you.

That seventh circle of hell cost me R4k to fix on my 530i when it had been filled with ATF! Had to have all the seals replaced. ATF munches the seals.

Strange, I've been using ATF in mine for 2 years. Have had no problem whatsoever.

I do use a synthetic Dexron 3 G rated ATF though.

Did you flush your system thoroughly beforehand?

Thanks guys.. Managed to top it up using some other PS fluid, cant really recall the name... :thumbs:
