Hi guys,

So I have a slight leak on my brake master cylinder, I've been told by my mechanic that it's just the seals and that I should take it to a specialist brake/clutch place in diep river,

Was just thinking of replacing the whole unit,

Anyone had this before on their e34? Any idea where a good place to get a new bmc? Would you just replace the seals?
Haven't got a quote yet but I assume it may cost similar to replace then to rebuild?

Also on my screen it says "brake pressure" something along those lines

Please buy the seals from BMW or just buy a new master cylinder from BMW.

I guess your coming from the point of view that it's the cars braking system and I shouldn't *#@$ around?

I think it will also depend what seals are leaking if you should get a new one or just replace the seals.

The leak i had was the seals between the master cylinder and the reservoir so I just replaced the seals.
A lot cheaper and haven't had an issue for 5 years now.

Initially i thought it was leaking between the booster and the master cylinder but i was happily wrong

Where's yours leaking, the only place I see for potential leaks is number 2.

What are your symptoms? does your clutch pedal loose pressure causing the clutch to have issues engaging or it feels like the biting point shits up on the pedal?

thanks for the info,

ya, i think i will start by replacing the #2 in the diagram seals,

i havent yet been able to pinpoint the leak, i will have a look properly on the weekend though,
when i run my hand along the bottom of the mc i can feel and see that it is slowly leaking

the big thing for me is having piece of mind and getting rid of the "brake pressure" waring light on the dash and the hand brake light.

no real symptoms that i can tell, i bought the car with the leak, so have no other reference point, the brake pedal does have quite a firm feel, but still feel strong, no real spongyness,
clutch feels pretty decent, does have quite a bit of travel though and a high up biting point, but again im not sure how its suppose to feel.

had a look now and it does look like the only place it is leaking are those seals where the reservoir connects,

speaking to bmw now about getting the seals
