E34 530 refuses to start after engine wash!!!

Hi!

Yesterday I took the car for the engine wash and managed to start and drive home. After about an hour it refused to start and just swings. Decided to give up trying and left it for the night hoping that today it will be dry and ready to start.

Can someone please help to diagnose the problem?

This will not end well....

Chances are that you have water in your e-box which meant the DME went poof...

Check for spark first of all..

There is no spark. What to expect?

or you can buy another DME

Took the car to Scorpion which is a Bosch Service Centre to scan and reset the ECU and the car starts.

NEVER let anyone else wash your engine... sorry for your misfortune hope the damage is not serious...

I clean my engine bay weekly to avoid build up of grime, after losing a N47 engine to water I do not want any liquids near my engine bay...

Whats wrong with a pressure washer? I've used it to clean the engine before? Granted not on full pressure and not holding it 1cm away from parts. Works great for me.

I have a WAP hot water steam high pressure washer and I have steam cleaned all of my engines to perfection - clearly the application of a little logic is required in terms of directing the force of the water into sensitive DME plugs. I usually blow dry the connectors afterwards using compressed air. It is not advised to use high pressure water to clean an engine, however this advice dispensed by the manufactures is not practical when dealing with filthy, oily 10 year plus cars .......
