E30M3 fenders

A question to the bodyworks guys

What would it cost to take an E30 body and have M3 look wide fenders done on front and rear?

I see kits like the above run around the 1000-1500 Euro mark (guess that'd be something in the region of R25k landed in SA at a minimum.

But ja, what would it cost to just have those fenders widened and box flared to OEM appearance? (incl paint and so on).

Hey peter.

I think doing the c pillar will definitely be too pricey. I'm just meaning going the front and rear fenders, the skirt should be very simple.

Would this be cheaper in cut metal or by fitting a kit? Which would give better long term durability?

Metal fabrication is always gonna be more durable than fiberglass. When you mate fiberglass to metal it’s extremely hard to do it to where you don’t have any issues. On most cars I have seen with fiberglass bonded to metal after a couple of years the seam from fiberglass to metal will show up.

RealOEM says it'll cost +-250 USD, might be worth it for the fronts, but the rears:

Surely local guys can fabricate cheaper than +-7k a side for the rear fender?

Just curious as I'm contemplating getting an E30 at some point in the future (most likely next year Q1end) and in that case I want to have an idea of what I'm in for.

I love the wide fenders of the E30M3, not bothered by the thicker C pillar or the different boot, that is far less of an appeal in the look to me. But just want to now how much up-front cash I'll need to get the bodywork done and painted.

And no there are soooo few local shops that will do a good job i would not even bother taking that risk. I have seen the horrors that hide behind the bodyputty by so many so called local builders. Stay the hell away.

I guess what partly got me thinking was the 1MV10 build elsewhere here, his widened fenders *look* decent, just got the juices flowing for something different.

Auric said they can give me an indicative price of R5600 (per side), but can't actually order the part as it's out of production or something. :/

It doesn't seem that likely that it is out of production to me, must be available somewhere. But oh well.

Did you see how many times those fenders got redone and then too that was using a set of oem donor fenders off a M3

Get hold of an S50b32 with its gearbox and harness.

Fix the suspension with new components and a set of Bilstein coilovers.

You will be in for R200k/250k plus the cost of the car and you will put at least 170wKw,

It will make your Z4Coupe feel slow.

You then drive around with a convoy of bodyguards or it will be stolen.

The E30M3 I finished some 3 months back has driven once in that time and it was a late night drive.

Ja, I was budgeting in the region of R200k for the job all in (excluding the car itself), engine wise I have been looking about at what has been swapped, I thought an M54B30 swap would be better as it's more common and should be cheaper to service in the longer term. I do *so* like the look of those box flares though...
