hope you get her sorted out soon bro!

no offence intended but this is why i went with the motor i have. if it drops a valve or throws a rod through the block i take it out, chuck it in the corner and put another 1 in and the fun starts all over again. for R5k...

Yes I remember us chatting about it and I totally agree. In fact once this one is running again, if it does give me hassles in future I'll call you and we maybe convert this one to a lexus too? Might take some more work, but if we could make the box fit and do the wiring harness then she'll be a more budget-able keeper. And more economical :roflol:

ja can definitely do the lexus mod, with cams, gas flow, compression... etc etc etc... good for some serious n/a power...

@moranor - lol! good question coz they never seem to run out...

It's sure been a while since I've had time for the little old bastard.

But things are on the move again. Got the head back today, and just to refresh.

So only need to go to jhb to fetch new springs, valves, push rods etc and have them put it all together.

I'll have to give the diesel a chance as well, it's feeling neglected. But I'm sure looking forward to running the V8 again :joy:

Andy hang in there ....soon...
If the small 4 litre V8 can wag the e34 tail nicely then the e30 must be JOY .... the sound is addictive !!

@Racing snake does the lexus motor fit in without too many hassles , what about moving the brake booster ?

Popped into US connection today to try figure out what parts makes this little car whole.

It's funny that the valves are from chevy, but the standard sizes don't fit the DART head. Push rods also non standard, springs non std and so on and so forth.

Luckily they got hold of the original builder of the motor and got some info on the original build.

So awaiting their call this week to find out the cost and availability on the parts. Then the long shipping wait...

The head repair so far cost R680 which I think is very reasonable. Gasket set also around R700. Will see what it all amounts to.

If it gets too crazy I'll just call Shaun aka Racing snake with a Lexus conversion

Yes you need to do that. No use to try and fix.
Then you can dump the useless Ford remains in my driveway :fencelook:

I was waiting for that, I actually told my dad the same thing. You're the only guys that can make use of it.

Waiting for their call and will then decide what to do from there on.

it fits in pretty well with the exception of the exhaust manifold on the drivers side and the brake booster. other than that it is a fairly straight fit.
ive now just clocked 70 000km with my mod and going strong! really loving this car more and more. ill def try make the next ice cream run.

It's sudden but the car is for sale, as is. Someone is coming with their tow truck tomorrow to possibly take her away. R25,000.

So if the car is still here after tomorrow it will go up on gumtree as well.

With work picking up as of next month it will take to long for me to get her running single handedly.

So it was clear that I'm ready to let go when I received the offer.

The upside is that I'll probably spend this on the 330d to do all kinds of preventative maintenance.
