DAMN, getting heated up in here!!!

Correct Streetdreamer...but if it is an Evo 2, then it WILL have a sunroof as std.

Evo 1's were optional & I never saw an Evo2 without one...

The only stupid question is the unasked question. People who dont know much about BMW's often call the 325is a shadowline, which technically it is(shadowline trim). However it's just not thee Shadowline that we Bmw fanatics know or refer to. Same story with the Toyota Twincam. If I said I bought a Twincam, most people would automatically think the bubble shape jobbie, but it could also refer to the 20V, which is also a twincam.

Well, on this note we have the following:

325i shadowline- this is an E30 generally in a plastic bumper, big taillights "facelift" although there are pre 88' 325i shadowlines as well. This is a 2 door e30 without an mtech 2 body kit.

325i sport- this is a 2 door plastic bumper e30 that is equipped with an mtech 2 kit and pre-dates the 325iS. They have 4 stud suspension and 2.5 motors with BBS basket weave wheels. They were badged 325i. These are the cars seen in euro wearing the mtech 2 kit. Often mistaken as a 325iS their vin numbers are generally 0086 xxxxx. Also a sought after vehicle as there are practically impossible to tell apart from a 325iS to a casual observer. Generally priced between 50 - 80k.

The 325iS was introduced as a homologation special by BMW SA for the then Group N series because we were not privy to the E30 M3. The evo1 was equipped with aluminum fenders and bonnets and the evo2 was not. The evo1 was equipped with 145kw and the revised tuning of the evo 2 resulted in a 155kw output. The 2 325iS incarnations wore VINs starting with OAF or OEJ.

*disclaimer: I don't know everything and stand to be corrected on the above, secondly I have found that there are very few hard rules around E30 identification. Not all evo1 's have ally panels, periodically a 325i sport is spotted with an OEF vin (infact a member here has a 325 sport with OEF vin), I know of at least 4 E30's with mtech kits, 2.7 motors and 5 hole suspension with 0086 VIN's.

If you want an E30 with the all conquering mtech II kit in 2 door guise rather judge it by its individual condition and love it because it's your little piece of BMW history than worry about its "true pedigree".

looks like a shadowline
looks like a glass sunroof was fitted
better pics would help alot here ,especialy the rim and suspension ,in the pic it looks like the rim has ben drilled to fit here which says to me that five hole " rezaks" where fitted on a 4 hole lug??
also rear vanity plate is not frm a evo2 i say this cause ive seen 1 evo 1 with a short plate like that and not all of them got ally fenders so it cud also be that not all of them got the long vanity plate ,then i cud be wrong as 95% of all is's ive ever seen has the long vanity plate,,,,,,
best is to type the vin in on realoem!

What a shitty attitude you have cukymonster328. Coming in with waving your e-peen around, insisting its a Shadowline and backing it up with some bullshit link.

@ 635_wes
Differences between the Vanilla Flavour 325i and is are:
276 Alpina Cam, 324td crankshaft, Alpina Pistons, Higher CR, Bigger AFM.

Different Mapping on the ECU.

Stevin..

Firstly, the 325iS Evo has alum panels, I know that cos both my red and a maroon Is had those panels, if you read the CAR test on the Evo 1, the mention that the alum panel where sourced and pressed from a company in Sweden, all to save weight, the bonnet on the Evo1 is alum as well...

engines difference included, (as far as I'm aware), the ev0 1 had a smaller AFM compared to the Evo2, the Evo1 had no exhaust branch, both my cars had manifolds when i bought them, compared to the Evo2, which had a local manufactured branch, which was made by BOSAl SA, i know this cos BMW referred me to them when i was looking top replaced my std manifold on my red car, the branch from bosal is R7500, thats just the branch!!

The inlet valves on the Evo2 were larger that the Evo1, which was used to improve the mid-range of the car, the Evo2 had a short ratio diff, however both cars topped out at 228kph as tested by CAR Mag, just short of the claimed 238Km by BMW, however CAR does mention that the claimed speed by BMW is well within reach, but due to the fact the when CAR tested both vehicles a full tank of fuel, together with a 2 man crew and testing equipemnt was in the car, therefore increasing weight on the vehicle.

The under floor tray found on the Evo2 was deveopled to improved under car air flow, to assist with cornering , for the stannic group N, since the opels where so light, they had a huge advantage. The interior of the cars where the same , except that leather interior was std on the evo2 and optional on the evo1, including the sunroof. The rev limit was increased to 6750 on the Ev02, where as the evo1 was set at 6700 ( i stand corrected here)

These are just some of the changes I can think quickly...

as far as speed is corcerned, the evo2 is slighty faster, and only through the mid range, however a well tuned STOCK STOCK evo1 will run away from a Evo2, as i use to ..kill them with my stock evo1... even with a stock both end (2.7) like i had, with a few mods...one can have some fun.

In addition to these mechanical differences, you have the bodykit, interior, suspension (5 hole), and a few crossover 325is models (some evo 2s had alu panels) etc.
