how long have you been searching for and where have you been searching?

I looked for two years to find a car that I was looking for in the condition and price I was happy with. I searched in most cities around the country and actually found the car in an area nobody would have even considered going to if they saw the advert in the paper or whereever.

I've also recently spent about 8 months looking for another car which I have managed to find.

But in saying that it took me five minutes to find another on gumtree, and since finding it the car's value increased three fold!

thats the problem.... you can find them but the condition is crap....

I saw a beautiful one about 5months ago.... the only problem was they wanted R150 000????

I thought that was crazy!!!

Dude I enjoy my PS3 games. However things changed a lot over past year. Have my own business etc. Gaming time just disappeared. I have the money to buy the 2 cars I want, just need to get approval from the finance minister :bawling::bawling:

I know Wynandd had one. There are two owners on the forum. Would have to go search. PM CLASSICMAN. He should have names on the fly.

Thanks Hellas... These cars are harder to find than Osama Bin Laden.... but, they eventually found him after years :)

I've still got a chance

Buy it first & explain later, I find it easer to say I'm sorry than to ask for permission.:pimp:

These cars are seriously collectable, and will become more so as the dogs fall by the wayside and we are left with only a handfull of pristine examples. A previous neighbour of mine bought a very clean one almost a decade ago, and paid in the region of 90k, so a very good one today at 150k is high, but not completely out of the ballpark. All these sanctions-busting SA specials, irrespective of make, are highly sought after overseas, but condition is paramount, so a lot of the best examples have already left the country. So a poor example is worth next to nothing, and a minter can cost you the earth. As a result it makes sense to buy a good, but far from perfect, car and do a mild restore. As long as all the essential bits are there, it won't break the bank. Another tip, don't ever mod these types of cars, original state is now key to value. :)

You can modify a car, as long as it is done in good taste.

Hot Rods are good examples of this, those cars are far from their original state once they leave the workshop and yet fetch astranomical prices.

Also Eleanor from gone in 60 seconds is also far from standard, infact it was running gas and I'm sure examples of those cars will fetch whatever price they want to fetch, and they are far from standard.
