E30 320is?

In my opinion, one cannot compare a E30 M3 to a E30 325is. The M3 is a very different car.
But this E30 320is looks really great too. Not M3 great but very interesting.

As much as people worship the 325is, it was a matter of engine size/displacement = power.

Not nearly as much engineering and chassis work as the M3.

I would rather have the S14 320iS than our 325iS

I think this is Debatable . 320is doesn't have all the fancy m3 suspension like ours 325is, and when chris harris drove the 325is in the car shootout he said it was arguably the best handling e30 he's driven.

320is had same engine as e30 m3 evo 1&2. It was a 2.3, 4. The evoIII M3 had a 2.5, 4. The 320is was a detuned version of the 2.3(4). It had M3 suspension like the South African 325is and shared same wheels. Not sure if it had the m3 dogleg gearbox though.

So what are the correct figures?

Sigh:mah-(chilling):

Lets take it phrase for phrase:

"320is had same engine as e30 m3 evo 1&2" - It is not the same. It is a 2L version of the S14

"It was a 2.3, 4" - No it is not. Its a 2.0L

"The evoIII M3 had a 2.5, 4" - There is no such thing as evo3. It was called the Sport Evolution

"The 320is was a detuned version of the 2.3(4)" - No it is not. It is a 2.0 and actually produces more specific output than the first 2.3

"It had M3 suspension like the South African 325is" - No it didn't. It had a normal run of the mill e30 suspension

"and shared same wheels" - No it didn't. It had the 4 hole version of the 15" Sport wheels that were not available in SA. If you can find such a set in SA, let me know because I will buy it.

For all the other differences, refer to :google:

My bad. Clearly I was utterly wrong. I came across a 320is a few years ago while browsing used cars and got most of that info from the advert I came across. Guess I should have verified elsewhere before believing. :sorry:
