hi guys i need some info on lowering a E12 535i. i just want the front a lil lower ,i am happy with the rear, so could u guys maybe tell me if its a good idea if i cut 1 spring from the front springs each side?.(dont really want to do this.) are there any different if i put a 325i e30 drop kit 40mm front springs in the front.? or do i get a drop kit for a e12 in south africa dont seems so cause no one have any.?

or is its best to leave it like that.? currently on bbs 16 mags and i want to put 17inch mags on the car.

Problem with cutting the coil is that the coil spring is wound smaller at the ends than in da middle making the spring seats also smaller. so da da spring wouldnt fit properly in da seat. You could try the heat and shrink method. This entails heating da spring in a oven to certain temp and than compressing it for a while.

@645nm thanx was thinking about asking him but though he maybe would reply to this tread.

@ Danzellc i've read alot on this cutting and heat and shrink method and most guys think cutting 1 coil in front would not make a different.

Talk to a reputable spring company. They take your existing springs, heat them up and give them a bit more of a twist as well as compress them. That way no cutting, you get the desired ride height and a sportier ride.
