E12 M535i - Help Please

Hi Guys,

Some help is needed please.

A while back a customer had this mint E12 car parked in his workshop under a lot of dust:skit:

He was in the process of getting this car running and had already got the interior done but needed the wiring to be sorted (rats got to it) and he wanted the engine to be redone as he said in his words the "seals were gone"
He sent the car to a mech and the trustworthy workshop that he professed to be turned out to be the opposite. Couple of months later , nothing has been done to the car now that the owner has threatened to remove car from his place he decides that he will start with it, but with no quotation or even a ball park figure to work with.

This is when I got a call, to please make an offer and take this car.

Guys what do I offer? Car is original but I don't know much about these cars but would love to own it.

What am I in for?

Please advise me.

You are in the fortunate position to negotiate with the upper hand. Never make your final offer first, and be willing to walk away.

With the unknowns, I would offer R60k.

i would say. guys...lets not flirt with each other. lets get down to business. tell me what you have to have to let it go & lets take it from there...i would want to pay less than R60k even though I'm sure its worth more. looks like R45k car:hammerhead:

Any idea on the cost (ballpark) to overhaul the engines and value of this car when running?

Not for the e12/8 m535i?

Have an original press photo for that later model without. I can see from the pic posted this car has recaro seats.

Although I can't even begin to add anything meaningful re purchase price and "what to look out for" always a good idea checking VIN# (last seven digits) on
www.bmwarchiv.org or www.realoem.com (or BMW dealer...?)

I think I've seen that car at Reynold's Autocare in Retreat a few times... If its the same car, its definitely an //M535i, down to racing clutch and recaros...
