E12 M535i going

My retired dad is scaling down and his daily driver is up for sale.

White M535i with approx 283000 km done (model year to be confirmed)
Aftermarket 16" rims, overdrive 5spd box, rest is original afaik.

Some minor rust and dings picked up over the years (this car has been in our family since 1989), with some TLC this could be a nice drivers car.
Unfortunately I do not have the space, time or funds to keep it running properly.
The license is current, but is sold as is.

Not to be FOS... but are you sure thats a 1984. The 1984's i know of had the E28 dash and other bits and pieces.....

Nice car as a project. E12/8 made between 1982 and 1985.

I think that is an E28 dash. I had the older dash in my E12 - much smaller and rectangular, and the door panels were different as well.

Hey guys

Regarding the model year, the reg papers states first RSA reg on 1984/02/28.
The VIN plate says "Manufactured in South Africa" and "Country of origin Germany".
I do not see any other indication of model year on the car, but having read the wiki referred to by Nick, it seems to correspond to being a CKD put together in RSA between 1981 and 1984, even though production in Germany stopped in 1981.

Just needs the dogleg short ratio gearbox , check the two road tests in the Car magazines in early 80's . The std did about 210 and the close ratio about 220 .

Yes, agree about the gearbox. Some people don't like the dogleg box, but I love it in the MLE, and would not change it for the world.

Ant do u perhaps know if this car had slip diff STD...?

All E12 M535i's had a limited slip diff as standard as far as I know. And it did not matter whether they were E12 or E12/8.

Ivan, that is my understanding as well, so yes your car has a limited slip diff thingy :=):
