e-46 Misfiring - Blowing hot air through vent

I have a 328i '99 that has done high mileage. Car has been serviced at all the required intervals.

It is misfiring on cylinder 2, only when cold +/- 2-3 km, and two workshops have to date unsuccessfully tried to rectify.

I have replaced the coil on that cylinder.

The other problem is that the vents are blowing hot air even when ambient is low. The heater control valve has been replaced with no success. What else can be the problem?

Hi Rudi.

I see you are in Pretoria.

If you like, call this guy tomorrow, they have a workshop in Pretoria, and regularly work on my car.

For the hot air... Check the heater control roller is still functioning on the dash board. Only thing that comes to mind now concerning that...

With regard to the misfire, are there any codes being thrown by the dme? If non then get a compression check done on the engine when both cold and hot. I suspectif you been changing oil every 25000kms you may have a gummed up ring set on that piston. Is there any fouling on the plug? What about the injectors? Try swopping them around in the rail?

Good luck
