Liking the second stage of this project, the M30's are bullet proof to begin with so its a perfect turbo motor. Are the pistons forged? Did you replace the rods and studs too? What size throttle body is that?
If you are going to run 0.8bar max then why run such low compression? The lower the compression, the more turbo lag.
Hi Gizmo, the M30 is indeed a bullet proof motor.
The pistons is Mahle forged. I used the standard rods as they are extremely strong. I shot peened it though! I used the standard studs. Throttle body is 80mm, 5mm bigger than the standard body.
Previously I made 292kw and 600nm torque at the wheels on the same compression ratio and boost pressure. Have balanced the bottom end and flowed the head. I am expecting in the region of 350wkw and slightly higher torque.
You are right, turbo lag is quite a problem. Car is dead below 3000rpm. After that, power is explosive.
