E 12 turbo project update!

Last year I was so busy and there was just not enough time to work on the E12. This past festive season I got stuck in and I can now say with a lot of confidence that the car is now almost done. All that is outstanding is the finishing off, of the engine bay and then to put the motor back in its position.

I had a lot of critisism about the ///M colors (especially from my 24 year old son)and hence I decided to change it. It was not an easy task removing the colors and I ended up re painting the whole body.

For those of you who do not know the car, this is what it looked like.

As you can see, the M colors is still there but less bold!

The engine bay during the clean up.

There is still a lot of work on the engine bay before the engine goes back, but it already looks better.

Installing the oil cooler and intercooler.

+1000 for M colours (and for a smaller tail piece)

Also a set BBS wheels should look awesome with this car.

Nice recovery on the paint job, looks alot more classy!

Thanks for the positive response this time Gizmo?

I agree with you, a set of BBS rims will compliment the car just fine, unfortunately I have spend more than enough on the car.

For now I have to finish it and sell it.

I will definately use BBS rims on my next project.

Thanks anyway!!

Other then that, its looking really well, and I love the prep job on that motor, awesome finish on the intake and the valve cover.

I used 2K paint that I bought from my local Luxor agent. Took one of my boost pipes to him and he mixed the color just perfectly for me.

My 7 year old is extremely trustworthy and he loves BMW's (and of course Ferrari's)

AS for the mags, as I mentioned it will have to stay for now. Will use BBS rims on my next project!

I decided to replace the bonnet with a fibreglass unit in order to reduce the overall weight of the car. These cars are quite heavy and power to weight is extremely important in drag racing.

Not bad for my first try with fibreglass work? I now need to finish it off and paint it. Will send some more pictures when it is done.

Congrats, love e12's, and it's great to see another Fanatic putting effort into keeping one more on the road. Anyone notice how few e12's are out there these days? Funny, I also preferred the more bolder, garrish M striping. Have a look at the 530MLE striping on both the road and track versions, ott and very Seventies. Please post pics of the finished car and, if you don't mind, the reason you will be selling it. Thanks, and :bravo:

I have another project that I want to start and need to finance it by selling the E12.

I have an E30 and would like to go the 2JZ route.

Will post more pics in the future.

Thanks
