DSc issue bmw m6 e63

Hi, my car has had the trifecta lights of yellow abs yellow DSc and red handbrake lights. I had the abs/DSc module “repaired”, by a gentleman in the northern suburbs of Cape Town.

It wasnt, since after the repair it then showed yellow DSc and handbrake light. I took it to another shop to rediagnose and fix.

The fault code coming up now refers only to 5df0; valves. No DSc connector fault.

The new shop had the system checked, brakes bled, and programmed via an autel system in case it needed it(it shouldn’t since it’s the same unit). No luck. The new shop says it’s the valves. The original repairer says it’s not the valves, that he fixed them.

I’m throwing money at a problem quite quickly here, and it not being fixed. With hindsight, I should have taken it to the agents, but I’m now deep down this hole. Who would you recommend to fix this, without resorting to the agents? In Cape Town, south suburbs ideally, but northern suburbs can work.

Invest in a Carly adapter and the app for your phone, especially for the older E series with OBDII, it'll help you with the diagnosis and give you the ability to do diagnostics on the fly as well as do the research on the web as to potential issues, helps narrow things down a bit. But agree with the other guys. Another issue may be a steering angle sensor, common fault on these cars.

So depending on where you look, you seem to get a variety of different answers as to what the issue is. Glad you have Carly though, that has saved me on more than one occasion.

It seems, at a quick glance, that it has to do with calibrations, something that seems to be only available by using ISTA. You, unfortunately, own one of the most temperamental cars ever made by BMW (hand up here for sitting for hours diagnosing faults on both my E63 M6s). So if the necessary parts have been replaced, as per the two workshops you've used, perhaps they haven't run a calibration on the system correctly. If you're in with someone at one of the dealerships, Claremont, SMG etc., the techs could spot you a favour and run a calibration for you. Shouldn't take too long I'd estimate.

Before throwing MORE money at parts and labour, try that avenue first. DM me if you want more help. Bloody S85 engined BMWs were my unfortunate forte at one point 🙈

Thanks Bugger, yes i should pop in there and just get a proper diagnostic done.

Anyone on here from one of the Cape Town dealerships who are interested in a look at this car?

You could have issues with your steering angle sensor which can be caused by bad wheel alignment or mismatched wheels, or a troublesome wheel speed sensor, either of which could need to be replaced. Another possibility that could be causing DSC problems is a poor connection at the battery.
