hi all , I would like to know can one have the drivers package fitted on a car after it left the dealers when new , for example , if I bought one of those very tempting used V8 M6 's with the limiter set at 250 km/h [non-competition], is there a way to up the speed limit without compromising the motorplan.

Yes you can,

BMW will still retrofit the M Drivers Package even if the car was not purchased with it initially.

So the 250km\h is not for you...Well done man:thumbs:

Why have a big V8 if you can't stretch it's legs

M Driver's package is expensive for what it is when retrofitted. I've looked at this. They could never confirm that there was advanced driving included or not (you get a special driving school and some extras in the US). Question is how often you will need to go beyond the limiter to justify R35K+

If you end up later doing software on the car, the limiter can be removed

it cannot be coded - needs an FSC code for your VIN from BMW.

Perhaps you can message me when you've investigated and we can approach them for a 'package deal' of sorts... after all it this costs them literally nothing. No other hardware changes or changes to gearbox/diff settings.

I can often justify a premium in some way, but for this, I cannot...

250 ish , hmm , every time we were on the highways in my friends e92 m we hit the limiter so quickly that it catches you by surprise , same with another friend merc SL55 , I just don't like the idea of a car telling me you had enough fun now , all this must be done where it is safe of course , I should think a v8 M5/6 will probably hit the limiter in some of the guys driveways if one looks at the power difference in regard to normal aspirated M cars that I have experienced.

I think I know a guy that can get the fsc code for a price. I will have to check, however I would not purchase the drivers package. I would rather just load bootmod3 on the car, or wait it out and load mhd when it's available.

I still can’t believe you have to pay extra to do 300 in an m car crazy ☹️

It isn't that much more (couple of grand) to tick when you are ordering the car, but if you've bought used or you didn't tick the box, it is astronomical (nearly 40K). Makes no sense
