Driver side blowing hot air, passenger cool air?

Hi Guys,

Hope someone can help with this snag. Recently the car has started to blow hot air out of the driver's vents. Even when the temp is set to 16 degrees. The passenger side is fine, blows the temp air you select, just the driver side that keep pushing hot air out. Not ideal in this summer weather.

Anyone know what I should look at, or know where I can take it to get sorted?

Thank you.

PS, it's a 2005 120d Auto.

Forgive me if this question is obvious.
Have you tried moving the blue/red center dial all the way to blue?

Hmmm I don't have a nob like that. It's climate control. Two digital temperatures can be set, one for driver, and one for passenger. Not matter what the temp setting is, I can put it to the lowest (16 degrees) it will vent warm air to the driver side.

When the driver side vent is not blowing cold anymore, but the passenger side still is, you can go for a topup on your aircon's refrigerant. You also need to go back and check for leaks, because this shouldn't really happen, but does when the level start dropping enough to not work as efficient as it used to, which is why it only blows on the one side. Basically what you see, is the early warning sign your aircon needs maintenance.

Cool, I will go check it out. See if I can find any leaks. Does anyone know of air-con service centres in Gauteng, Westrand?

Top up aircon refrigerant and get leak test done. They usually do this a few days to a week after refilling, because new refill includes a dye which makes it easy to find.

I had this issue on my wifes e90 323i some years back, turned out that it just needed to be re-gassed, a reputable workshop that does re-gassing will also check for any leaks.

Just for reference - my car has climate control as well - dual zone - but it still has the wheel button by the middle air vents that will override the climate control settings.

True, but it would blow either hot or cold on both side not just one, depending on how you adjust it.
