Driver door locking issue

Hi,

I've recently started having an issue with my driver door. I can lock the car with remote key but i cannot unlock the driver side door with the remote key, I have to physically unlock it. I can hear the mechanism trying to fire when i press the unlock button but it just doesn't unlock. It will unlock the passenger door if I press it twice. I've been hearing things about the lock actuator and i'm seeing them costing $160, so i can't even begin to imagine what it'd cost at a lock dealer.

Anyone have any clue or suggestions?

Thanks

Howdy bud,

Its sounds mechanical for sure, I would recon actuator itself...

does not need to cost a nut... from the dealer you should be good.

The Alarm guys across the road from me does this sort of thing.... Radiotec is the name...

HOwzit..

I had the same problem on my passwnger side door when i bought my Mini, took it back to the dealer and they decided to change the whole central locking system on the car, not 100% what it costed but im guessing you just need the driver side system.

Hey,

I'll be sure to give EVERY other option a go before i go crawling to a dealer to replace my entire central locking system. I'm pretty sure it'll cost me and arm and a leg.

Thanks for all the advice thus far.

I have the exact same problem. Tune Tech quoted me R2000.
Let me know the outcome if you go to Radiotec.

I'm gonna give radiotec a call in the morning and i'll report back to you on here when i know.

I really hope we find something a little less costly.

Update :

So directly from BMW it's R1308. Second hand from a spares place is R850.

Radiotec, i haven't managed to get all the way out that side cause i'm staying in the West Rand, but when I get the chance, i'll venture through to that side of the world.

Right so i got one from BMW for R1152 and installed it myself. It wasn't too difficult, just the working in the tight spaces that's slightly frustrating.
