Hi all

I am driving a BMW 118I F20 2013 model. I am getting a drive train error. I have sent it to the mechanic he is telling me the problem might be the turbo. How will I know if its really the turbo thats faulty? I dont want to replace an expensive part and it turns out it wasn't the turbo.

Hi

I know that feeling. Just had it recently. Did you put the car under for diagnostics? If not, I would do that first to make sure it's really the turbo.

It can be anything, google it and you'll get a thousand different answers. I had it on my F30 335i and they replaced some kind of accelerator module part last week

The is busy with diagnostics. My issue is that its not the first time I have had this error . Last time they changed pressure converter on the turbo charger now they are telling me about the turbo itself. Thought maybe there are signs to tell if your turbo is faulty.

I had this issue over weekend. Parked the car then drove it for 40mins after 10 hours. No error again.

Took it for diagnostics, And nothing came up; they could not give me an answer what it could be.

With the F20 118i it’s entirely possible that it could be the turbo as they are prone to failing, but “might be a faulty turbo” will not cut it, so I recommend taking it somewhere else for a second opinion.

Good luck and keep us posted:thumbs:
