anyone here do drifting? i need advice on tyres...

I don't have drifting experience, but I would assume it would be best to go for cheap or second hand tyres as you will probably go through a lot of them before too long.
I would think you should go for a harder type of tyre (maybe bridgestone).

i was wandering how long second hand tyres will last with minimal tread.
also im thinking of keeping my 15" tyres because they are cheaper. 17" would be more precise dont know if it would be worth the cos thou.
i was also wandering about the treadwear number on the side wall and how much difference that makes to the wear (the higher the number the harder the compound)

Treadwear rating is supposed to be linear and tested by an external company. IE a tyre with a treadwear of 400 will last twice as long as one with a rating of 200. But that is tested at normal speeds and temperatures. Surely different tyres will respond differently to raised temperatures and friction levels.

thats what i was thinking...so only someone that has tried drifting with different tyres will know how much the number affects wear on average but there will always be exceptions...

Speak to Gizmo, Hey uses tires he gets from scrapyards for a couple hundred each.

Also the older the tire the more perished & harder the rubber & the less it grips
