Drag Strip and Motorplan?

Hey guys,

Just curious if there is any reason to be concerned about the motorplan when taking your car out to the drag strip?

Surely the car was built to handle a few spirited 400m runs and it shouldn't affect the motorplan - just want to confirm.

Motorplan specifically states you are not allowed to race the car. In fact, every time I've booked my car in they asked if I raced with the car or if the car was in an accident. But the bigger issue is that even your insurance will have an issue with you racing your car.

Motor plan terms and conditions state that you cannot use your car for Motorsport while on MP...End of story..... Sorry. It sucks i now

Is Street to Strip considered motorsport? It's not like an offical race event. More like a social acceleration run. I mean I can perform the exact same action at any traffic light. - doing it at a track just ensures it's legal and safe.

Why even build launch control into the car if you're not supposed to use it occasionally?

tape up number plate and license disc

A lot of guys here attend events often. Should not void your plan. Just remove your plates for safety sake.

Have a look at your MP terms and conditions. The the decision you take is at your own risk.

Its your car at the end of the day.

Remove/block plates and disc like the guys mentioned.

Then again the last 5 digits of your cars VIN is on all your glass windows in any case.

ive never had issues, infact i asked BM to clean all the rubber out my wheel arches from warming up the slicks..... :rollsmile:

We not saying don't race at a legal event, just know that there is a risk of losing you MP if you get found out.

Its simple, MP will not pay for your negligence and drag racing is specifically that when it comes to MP claims. BMW will ensure it is proven that you were negligent (again that is what it is to BMW) and they will revoke it.

as the okes said above, remove plates and disc but I also know there has been agent spies at events sometimes that check these things, sometimes even taking VIN numbers down.

if you got MP, and willing to risk it then go have fun :coolShake:

dont think I'm gonna risk it hey. Bought this car specifically so I never have to swing any spanners on it.

Will wait till my purpose built car is on the road again rather.

It's very hypocritical of them seeing as they advertise all if not most of the M cars as being capable on a race track or drag strip. If you have the time and money you could force them to cover it as long as it's occasional IMO.

Tape up the license and VIN and go for it.

Just tape up all numbers, plates, disk etc...and you good to go

There are plenty cars that are on plan during track days and drag events. Like the guys said tape up or use valcro plates and remove them on track.

I have not heard of any MP being cancelled at these events and will be a first if i did....

Bare in mind....If something should break on the track, do not call BMW on call or your insurance. Tow it away far from the track privately and then call :rollsmile:
