Hello everyone.

So how do I check if my car has a dpf or not?

I found this on the interwebs and since mine is facing down it makes me wonder.........

Good Day

Your E90 does not have a DPF. Most of the current BMWs do not have DPF including the current X3 (G01), 320d, 520d and X5.

Simplest way to check if a diesel vehicle has a dpf - run your finger inside your rear exhaust tailpipe. If there is black soot in your finger then it does NOT have a dpf. If your finger is clean then the vehicle has a dpf.

Thank you for the reply!

Is it really as simpele as checking if your finger comes out Black after sticking it in the exhaust??

Ill give it the finger and report back when I have.

Does it have a cat then?

It also says in that article that a straight pipe has a dpf, a turned down pipe does not have a dpf, and my pipes are facing down.

Ill have to probably take it somewhere, Jack it up and check, its seems to be the only way to be sure.

It also mentions the finger test in the article lol.

Check the parts catalog for there description using your VIN. Otherwise take some pics but as described most don't and also don't have a DEF tank to fill. I had a DP fitted to my E90 330d (M57) and it just had a massive catalytic converter there.

Just an update. No DPF on my car, Just a cat and can be removed without doing any software as there are no sensors for the cat.
