It could be a 2011 build and reg took place in 2012.
Go to realoem.com. Put in your vin and see the build date.

Possibly manufactured 2011 but first registered early 2012.

In SA, the car year model is determined by the first registration date, not by the year of manufacture.

It does. My dad has one. Purchased in 2011, registered Jan 2012.

Mine was registered in 2012 but built in 2011, the problem with the 2012 e90's is that the motorplan could have started in 2011.
