Hi Guys

Are these switches , (those on the rear passenger doors) used to open / Close the window. Are they supposed to light up?

Im certain (but I could be mistaken) when we bought the car new they used to light up , but im not sure, I haven't seen them light up for years now.

Are they supposed to light up?

Regards

But certainly it would light up, or how is one suppose to find the switch at night?

I dont know , Is it possible for someone on here to check on their E46,s If the switch does indeed light up?

Would really appreciate the help.

they rear passenger light switches on my even older E36 lit up when the normal headlights were switched on, so I would imagine that it would also be so on the later model E46

I just checked in a 320i and another 318i and they don't light up, this is so odd. My friends e36 lights up.

I just finished changing the bulbs on my rear door switches (E36). Went into a panic mode when they never worked. Then discovered that the power window switch, the one used to switch the rear windows on and off (to prevent the kids from messing with it), also switches off the lights in the rear switches themselves. What you can't see you can't play with.

Just a thought.

Any other E46 owners ? Please can you check if yours light up , i have now seen 2 other cars and they dont light up, 318i and 320i . Havnt seen any of the higher specd cars though.

Could it be a software thing to light them up?

So what I have found out thus far, Not all E46 cars rear window switches light up . Most dont light up. Some do , some individuals light up and some dont, if yours is ment to light up there should be 3 or 4 wires going into the switch ( will check again)

Those that dont light up dont have the extra wire. I wonder if this has something to do with the light package? Or were these light packages different on different models.
