Do i have vanos????? Please help????

Okay i have been reading a write up on the site about vanos seals... So i looked at my motor and i was wondering if anyone can help me to see if i have vanos? I HAVE A PICTURE OF MY MOTOR IN THE SHOWROOM IE.. MY BMW E34 520I AFTER SOME TLC the car has a 6cyl motor m50 dohc and the internet pictures dont help much? My car is a late 92 so it might have vanos or not? Please help where you guys can? Kyle

Take your vin number and put it into www.realoem.com

That should give you an indication, I looked at the photies and cant see anything, but you need a front profile of the motor, from the looks of it, it does not

Yeah, it doesnt look like you have VANOS, but would need to see the from the front of the car.

not sure but I think the vanos engines only came out in 1995/6, just before the release of the E39. They were fitted in the E34 facelifted models, which had the larger kidney grill.

And only on selected models, the 525 and the 520??? i think, the 530 and 540 did not.

Mine is a build date 95/01 and no vanos. The M62 V8 had Vanos
