Do drivers think I have my High beams on??

Hi Guys!

Something I noticed this past well since we got the New F30

When ever I drive this car at night , it always seems as if people are putting their high beams on behind me . I never ever had this issue with my E46 .

The F30 has LED headlamps and Both the outer and inner headlamps light up . On the E46 , its just the outer Xenon lamps that are on . ( normal driving lights)

Does this happen to anyone else? I kind of feel that these people think I have my high beams on when they are not on . Its so annoying to have high beams in your face all the time .

Going out on a limb here, but are you not possibly driving with your rear fog lights on? Personally, if I am driving behind someone with their fogs on, I try to inform the driver in front of me by flashing my headlights.

Golf drivers are the absolute worst with this.

I hate rear fogs, the worst part is that flashing does't help as they won't know why.
These idiots must get into their car every night and think hmmm lets press this button to piss off people.
It triggers migraines for me :smashScreen:

No , I don't drive with the rear fogs on , I don't see the point , it has no purpose , Unless there's fog . I mean come on , if I did have the habit of driving with my rear fogs on , I would have the same problem with the E46 right?

Still cant figure it out , Happened again this evening .

The headlamps angle cut off does not seem off , I checked with both cars and both are cutting of at the same spot.

Have to agree , The rear fogs tend to give me an instant migraine headache as well , I wear glasses so I know how irritating it can be , so would never subject that to anyone , Also , high beams on a car with rear fogs on never seems to work for me , the guy in front hasn't a clue his bothering anyone behind and just keeps driving on . Flashing multiple times did work once.

Something weird that I noticed this evening , I tried taking pictures of the F30s headlamps while on and the E46 Xenon lamps when on , and on the cellphones screen the F30s headlamps kind of flickered while the E46 headlamps were normal .

I don't know about the e46, but on the F30 you physically have press the button to light up the rear and the front fog lights for that matter. So not likely.

Have you noticed some car shows the lights flicker, I've always wondered why the cameras do that!! Doubt it's the lights but more likely the camera.

I suppose your F30 doesn't have the rear blind, mine has and is permanently up, so never noticed. I can't recall right now but are there any buttons on the rear view mirror for "anti-dazzle"?

Hmm my e46 has the rear electric blind that I keep up all the time and an automatic anti dazzle mirror but no button, still would notice high beams from the side View mirrors, the f30 just has an auto anti dazzle mirror but the back window is tinted, but the glare comes from the side view mirrors as well. F30 has no button either. No electric blind on the f30.

Your correct, both cars have buttons for the fogs, and they switch off if the car is turned off , unlike the e30 both arnt permanantly on hope I'm making sense.

Cars use a switch mode power supply to power lighting LED's. This causes the LED's to pulse at a frequency the human eye cannot see. (Typically greater than 120hz and up to several Khz) Your typical camera sees 30 frames per second and this is enough to pick up the gaps inbetween on and off pulses in the LED's.
Hence the flashing effect.

Having your high beams on would impact oncoming traffic, not seeing how people following would be affected by your headlights....

Maybe something to do with your tail lights or driving style...then again maybe they flashing an oncoming car and you just noticing it.
