Hi
Just a quick question
Do all 2002 M coupes have e46 M3 motor
I assume they also have the same con rod bearing failure?

From what i have read they didnt suffer from the conrod bearing issues since they had a 7400 RPM limit whereas the e46 was @ 8000

There were a number of them, yes.
I think Clownshoe may have 1, and there was a red 1 as well if I remember correctly. If not, then I dont.

As far as i can remember, there was a limited edition created by BMWSA that featured the e46 m3 motor and ACS kit, exhaust etc. i might be mistaken but i think there were only 35 or 40 made like these. I stand to be corrected, this was a long time ago

How does a dealership get hold of a car like that??
Surely only enthusiasts drive thise cars
I spoke to the guy at the dealership and he says they bought it for STOCK (whatever that means)

Didnt want to divluge any other info

Apparently car was in a back smash

Still cant understand where they get a car like that from

What do you mean ? 80% of car sales go through dealerships. Not understanding when you say "car like that".

It a M coupe with an E46 M3 motor and various ACS bits, nothing particulary rare.

Just thought that these cars were now "Collectors Items" since only 22 are left
Strange to find one owned by a delearship (especially a small one like that)

Only saw this thread now.
Most of what has been said is true. They are rare but come on the Market quite frequently.

They do suffer from bearing shell failure in that they have the sub tolerance shells. They did not get the recall because of the lower rev limit. They do fail. If the plan any performance upgrades changing them out is a must.
