DM 80 LW - GP - info

So this is what I got from the guy. He was really helpful and gave me everything as he has it.

Car was from MP and not from GP. It was in an attempted theft last year where they put rocks on the floor and the previous owner drove into it. He front bumper got messed up, the radiator got broken, and the sump as all the oil leaked out.

The car at the time of the above was at 223907km, and he did confirm the Chassis number/Engine number so I know it is the same car. The thing is that the current mileage is 160000km which is wrong.

The quote to repair the car was R102000.00 and insurance chose to pay out and see the car. It is not code 3 and could be repaired but was cheaper for the insurance to pay out.

Talk about red flags that was discovered over the last few days. Btw, the service book has fake stamps from the end of motor plan. The guy even confirmed the place it was serviced in Middleburg yet the showroom claim the car is a GP car.

Thanks for the help everyone. I am now going to put a thread in the Cars for sale or wanted to try and get a 330D within my budget.

Regards
Kavir

Yep. :blueCry: . I am just happy I did not take it and find all this out afterwards. Can't believe people out there do things like this.

I drive passed these guys daily and always thought they had some good cars :hammerhead:

Doing your research is vital, glad you came out unscathed thanks to Cois :clapper:

They do seem like nice guys. I emailed the guy earlier to tell him I am not taking it and explained that the history of the car is bad. He asked for more information. I believe though that they might know all of this already. They did say they sprayed the front bumper so they probably repaired everything. They were giving me a crazy high trade in. If it was not for the incorrect mileage, might have considered it if it was repaired properly since the car is not a code 3 or was ever meant to be.

Hard to find a 330d for under 150k at a showroom where they will give a decent trade in. Unfortunate that this was a bad car.

So I cannot post in the cars for sale/wanted section. lol. I will hang around till I get enough to post there and see if anybody has one for sale within my budget. :coolShake:

Glad you walked away. The pure fact that it has recent GP plates on an old car is the 1st sign of trouble. :coolShake:

Just my 2c worth, but in that price range you could look at a 530d as well. I think that generally the 5-ers age better than the 3-ers...

That is quite interesting. Also the 530d might actually be a little cheaper as it is less common and more expensive to maintain. Will actually check up. There are not a lot of 330D's for sale under 150k. My budget limits me to around 130k comfortably so that if there are any issues, I can ensure it is fixed properly and the car is maintained.

The 5er should be no more expensive to maintain than the 3er if you do your own work. The '45s and '50s sure, the 530d was a bread and butter model for BMW. Parts are readily available, and always remember that eBay is your friend :)

Hell, my 7er is by and large my "cheapest" car since I can do the basic maintenance myself.
