So I have found tips on how to protect our 635 csi dashboards on other forums but non of the products they have spoken about I can find in SA

My dash is in amazing condition, one tiny crack about 1cm long. I REALLY dont want it to run!

What are you guys using on your 6ers dash? Where did you get it?

I know this is discussed to death but please help me.

i just keep the dash clean, and covered (sun shade mostly).

i also try to keep the rear covers (behind the headrests) out of the sun as well, because they WILL warp.

A friend of mine used have an E30 and the dash had no cracks in it. The car would stand in the sun for weeks while he was out on the water. I told him he was crazy, but he said that he uses leather products on it and it never cracked as far as I know. Not sure what he used, but I know it was stuff for leather and knowing him it would have been anything he could get off the shelf like Mr. Muscle or something. Sadly the E30 is no more due to an electrical fire :(

Best would be to have a screen in the front and the back to keep as much sun as possible off it.

Would it be possible to find out what he used?

This was quite a while ago and we're not really in touch anymore. I think it was Mr. Muscle to be honest, but I think stuff like that Shield leather wipes also works. The steering wheel on my 540 started making these bits as your hand would rub over it and after using the shield leather wipes I don't even notice the rough patch on the steering wheel. I also use it on my E30's dash, but the E30's dash is already cracked so it's hard to see if it makes a difference.

The sun basically bakes the dash and makes it super dry. Just giving it something to "moisturise" it should help prevent cracks or warping.
