the only reason bmw will turbo the new m is emmisions control
bmw have had to heed the call for cleaner greener machines.
and when M divison get there hands on the turbo motor is gonna be wild for sure.

not too sure about resale values of current cars though , most likely it will fall as with all new model releases.
that being said the e46 m prices have done well if they have sensible mileage

very strong made 198kw at the fly
no issues , besides the harmonics pulley breaking due to hi torque figures of 600nm atw

The M lovers will want n/a power.... I still say turbos r sissy power...( i wont mind a turbo on the reef)

Ya the E9x M price will drop a bit coz ppl can't afford them...

There are so many m3's on the road.. I would hardly call it unaffordable
Overpriced.. Maybe
Unaffordable.. Maybe not

Dnt u think m lovers "prefer" n/a coz they have no choice in the matter
The real ballers are the m owners that can afford to FI their cars.. Less owners do it, coz they cant afford the mod.. IMO.. But im sure they wouldnt mind doing it.
Just have a look at the performance of the current m3 with ess charger.. Now thats M-azing

i wouldnt personaly turbo an m car
its defeats the perpous of buying a high revving , high compression motor

u rather turbo a 330i or 328i

some cars are best left aspirated , they might be quicker boosted but that detracts from the overall makeup of the original car.

Forgive my noob comment (I haven't driven anything that fast... ever...), but I find it hard to believe that the M3 is slower at reef. Off the line maybe, but once the engine is on the boil I can't see how 'n (stock) 335i could keep up with the m3. I can't go into the nice forums (tlgp) yet 'cause I don't have enough posts :( but maybe someone can verify my feeling...

Yeah, whats up with that? I finally got in with the 25 posts and then I got kicked out a few days later because I now need 100 posts.

People said the same thing when the V8 M's came out... "prices of 6 cylinders are going to rocket because M3 should be 6 pot."

Well the V8's came, and seem to be as successful as any other M. The E46 prices are starting to drop as expected, but I did not see any dramatic increases in price of the E46's. In my opinion, the thing that effects BMW prices the most is motorplan. When cars are coming off plan, especially M's, the price starts to drop cos people are scared of maintaining them.

Then again, u might change your mind if you get to drive a boosted e92 m3... U never know ;)
Either way, im sure the nxt gen M is gonna be great.. Especially for tuners.

"Tough emissions standards worldwide and soaring manufacturing costs in Germany are behind BMW's decision to switch from high-revving, naturally aspirated engines in its M high-performance vehicles to turbocharged direct-injection powerplants, beginning as early as next year.

The move, which could alter the character of BMW M models, places question marks over the immediate future of the M3's 4.0-liter V8 and the M5's 5.0-liter V10. Both engines will make way for forced-induction engines in coming years, according to high-ranking BMW sources."

I understand the move however I love a high revving N/A motor. Far more responsive and involved. The power is usable throughout the rev range.

However with that being said i'm sure the technology going into these cars will be nothing short of miraculous. Look what hey did with the 335i's! I'm skeptical but excited!

OR JUST BITTER I WON"T BE ABLE TO AFFORD ONE! LOL

now this is my first time driving an M, brand new with just 1140km on clock, yello, individual and......

The performance is fantastic, find some open road punch it to 8000+ rpm, hit the right pedal to upshift....

Thou shall not exceed 5500rpm during the first 2000km. Motor is not running TWS 10W60 oil for the first 2000km!!!
