Abmi, have you tried this:

Get a can at Midas. It gets rid of ALL the water vapour and any dirt in your feul system.
You ad it to a tank of feul, and drive like your mother in law is behind you...

Its worth a try I would say... :dunno:

Cois, I was contemplating something on those lines but haven't tried this brand before. Are you speaking out of experience?

Used the Dura Lube before and that worked well. The Prolong was also good.

Tell you what, ask Frikkieh on this forum what this stuff did for his E90.

I've been using this stuff since I owned my Gli Twincam, and that was in 1997, and 7 cars ago, and has been using it in all my cars, except the 320d I owned.

I have also used it on my current 325, about 30k km's ago, when it was pinging after I visitted Lichtenburg and was forced to put in 93 octane. Got back and put in Sasol 95, and the car kept pinging, and even pre-ignited when I switched her off.

Went back to the old can of Wynn's and Bob's your uncle...

Now I am not saying it will fix your car, but maybe there is some dirt and vapour in your system, especially now with the cold, it might cause condensation, so its worth a try. :dunno:

I know for a fact Midas has it, and maybe Autozone.
They also keep it at some of the petrol stations, but don't bargain on in. Rather try Midas first. :thumb:

My car is still pinking a bit with Sasol 95, but I have also been driving a bit more enthusiastically this past week...

I don't want to sound negative but I think its a problem with the fuel as well as BMW's direct injection system and not properly designed heads.

Good point, but with my car's engine in this case, as far as I know it's not direct injection - at least the N52 wasn't, it's only the engines after that as in the case of the 335i twin-turbo that is direct injection!

The N52 did change to direct injection at some stage. Not sure when on the 3 series but on the 1 series it was in 2006 when BMW started all this efficient dynamics crap.

This is one of the reasons that I stopped looking at 130i's. They have the same ticking and pinging as you guys are explaining and from the reading I have done it starts at around 80k km and then the head(s) have to come off. This put me off the car completely.

Was this not the facelift engines, or the N53 and N54?
