I just read this page

http://www.beemerissues.co.za/the-dent-almost-every-3-series-car-has-thats-not-your-fault/

They say that the F30 has a dent in the bonnet? I have checked our car and it does not have this dent , Im not sure if its a pre-LCI problem ? As ours is an LCI , but I know for sure that my friends F30 has this dent on the bonnet , I just thought that he probably dented it .

Does your car have it ?

Here is part of the page

If you own a modern BMW 3-Series, or know someone who does, there’s a good chance that car has this dent on the bonnet that wasn’t your (or their) fault.

BMW’s response? “It’s part of the design being part of the crumple zone of the bonnet”.

Sure.
Which cars are affected?

The current BMW 3-series model, known as the F-30, was introduced in 2012. It’s new, aggressive bonnet is part of the new look BMW introduced. However, between trying to make a safe vehicle and being a fantastic-looking vehicle, BMW engineers got it a little wrong.

Even worse, all BMW 4-series coupes are affected too, as they share many parts with the 3-series F-30 design. Have a look on the left for a complete list of models that are affected.
The bonnet dent you cannot unsee if you find it

There are two folds in the metal (known as shadow lines) that give the bonnet it’s sculpted look. Using the reflection of a light source, follow the light carefully down the length of the shadow lines. In 9/10 of cars that are at least a year old, you will notice a small, unnatural dent in the metal on either one or both of the sides of the bonnet.

The BMW South Africa representative in my meeting has claimed that this is not a defect, but simply a symptom of people opening or closing the bonnet to forcefully. The reality is that this person is likely the BMW technician who worked on your car. Considering that it is so prevalent, surely this isn’t just a side effect of incorrect bonnet handling and actually a defect in the car?

Yup my 335i has it on the driver side.. Also have the classic chipped paint above the driver's windscreen wiper as that wiper can't be held up to clean the window, it knocks on the bonnet... It's a minor thing to me, been there on my previous 320d too. I have not inspected the 318i LCI yet..

There's some special procedure to get the wiper to move to a position where you can lift it up, but I can never remember/find it so yeah missing a bit of paint there too...

Hmm interesting, I could never get it right. To be honest this happens at the garages when the attendants clean the windscreen too. I am not too stressed about it especially on the Alpine white it is not that visible. All cars have some design faults. Such is life. :=):

I've got it right once before, so can confirm it does work. I should print it out and leave in the cubby hole or something. Another bit of "thinner" paint is on top of the back bumper the boot has probably been slammed to hard a couple of times. Not sure if maybe the previous owner adjusted it incorrectly at some point or what but I got it like that and don't think it's gotten worse.

The procedure is pretty simple: Switch the ignition on (or have the car running) and then switch the ignition off. With the ignition just switched off hold the wiper control stalk up for about 3sec - the wipers will run up, down and up again where it will stop. From there you can lift them off the windscreen without scratching the bonnet. To lower he wipers again you switch on the ignition and press the wiper control stalk down once.

No dents for me. My previous F30 didn't have them either. Where's this 9/10 number coming from?

Scratches on bonnet from wipers though. My current F30 you can barely even lift the wipers, so clearly someone has tried to force the issue, the scratch is like 8cm long.

My old E90 had a dent too.. But that is a story for another day.. The LCI does not have any dents, but then again that is a new car :=): mine is 2 years old already.. Reaching replacement years on that car now!
