With summer finally here, Definitive Detailing & Valet would like to offer you a special on our services.

"Summer Protection Pack"

The aim of the summer protection pack is to not only enhance the shine of your car but also protect it from increased levels of heat as well as UV Levels.

Although unnoticeable by most car owners, the paintwork on your vehicle deteriorates over the summer months with oxidation forming on the clear-coat of your car. Other noticeable effects are coarse, sand-paper like textures on your paintwork when running your hand over the paintwork.

Below are a few examples of this deterioration:

This particularly noticeable on flat colours like white, red and yellow.

These imperfections lead to a lack of shine, gloss and damage the paintwork over time which eventually leads to clear-coat failure.

The easiest way to avoid this and protect your car is to wax the car with a durable wax.

Therefore our special offers you:

- Wash vehicle & mag wheels
- Towel dry vehicle
- Apply one pass of paint cleaner to remove basic layer of contamination.
- Apply wax (Collonite, Chemical Guys or Meguires), two coats per car.
- Apply Rim Wax
- Apply trim dressing
- Clean glass

Time required: 4 hours

Cost per Summer Protection Pack: R450.00

This does not include paint correction and the interior is not included.

Our Summer Protection Pack not only protects your paintwork from the elements for about 6 months, but also enhances the paintwork. Besides this the car is also easier to clean and maintain thereafter.

Many owners will claim this doesnt happen to their cars - However with the deterioration being so slow and natural often you will not notice the paintwork changing until I come do paint correction and bring the car back to life.

This package is particularly important to new BMW owners who have had their cars "Auto Armoured" from the dealer. I will allow other members to explain why. :=):

You see this a hell of a lot on E36's nowadys, so I would assume that the E46's are next....

Very true Doc, I noticed a lot of clearcoat failure on the E36's I looked at whilst car shopping.

Clearcoat failure usually occurs on the edges of the paintwork to begin with and then spreads throughout the body.

Another cause of clearcoat failure is a bad respray where the clearcoat has been applied to thinly or hasnt been protected from the elements.

I saw this on a friends Audi 3.0 Litre Quattro (2003 model).

I just got my car for about 3 months and I want to start on the right foot here

I had a black e90 before and I really stuggled to keep that car looking good I have a Space Gray matalic now so it does not show up blemishes as easy

What do you suggest I do

I also would like to know how do you work do you come out and do the work or do you have a shop? If you come out what areas do you service?

There is the possibility that perhaps if we can get enough guys together then I can fly up to JHB and do a week of detailing for you guys. I can offer all my services and make it worthwhile?

My only concern in JHB is transport and accommodation.

My service in the Western Cape is mobile, so wherever my client is - I am. In some cases clients have spare cars and are happy to allow me to collect their vehicle and return it the next day for Enhancements and Full Details.

I do not have a shop unfortunately although I would love to start offering products and secure premises.

With regards to your BMW, congrats on the new car firstly. :bravo:

My suggestion is you grab yourself some wax for the paintwork. If you want you can also give the car a quick polish before waxing. You will no doubt be working by hand so I would suggest a product like Meguires Swirl X or Ultimate Compound applied twice per panel followed by a decent wax like Chemical Guys XXX Hardcore Wax (About R140) or Meguires Gold Class Wax.

By Hand Gold Class Wax is brilliant as it gives instant shine and contains fillers which fill fine swirling and scratches meaning less effort.

So first off, get some protection in the form of a wax onto the paintwork.

Also give those lovely rims a coat of wax, they will be easier to clean and the wax will help protect them from brake dust which loves to eat BMW wheels.

Hey mike ish that sounds like to much hard work

I am in joburg unfortunatly so getting you to take care of it is not possible.

I have a place down the road in sandton where I get my car washed. They also use Maguires products they have 2 offerings a 1 step wax and a 5 step full treatment I was thinking of doing the one step next week or so then in another 3 months doing a 5 step.

I had the one step done on my black e90 and nearly all the swirl marks were gone. The guy at the place told me to do the 5 step every three months but I think thats a bit excessive I was thinking on alternating the one step with the 5 step every 3 months.

I don't know is this a good idea?

Hi there

The One step is no doubt just two coats of Megs Gold Class which essentially means its just a wax which will protect the paintwork but also increase the colour intensity and shine.

The reason most swirl marks disappear after their One Step is because the Meguieres Waxes contain fillers which fill the swirl marks and light scratches.

They do not remove them, just fill hence why the guy there recommends you return every three months as this is more or less how long the fillers will hold out for.

So, I would go with the One Step again and not bother with the 5 step until the car is about a year old. The 5 step is just paint cleaners, polish etc and at this point the car doesnt need it.

One Step every 3 months and 5 step every 9 to 10 months. :thumbs:
