Thanks gents Yoh you guys have tons of knowledge on these cars. I do quiet alot of milage but and i was leaning towards the 335i but now im swinging more towards the 330D now busy doing more research on these cars 330i is ruled out so far. I will keep you guys posted on what the decision is.

another question i have is how strong are the steptronic boxes on these cars,i prefer manual but there seems to be alot of steptronic's out there are these box's any good in terms of reliability and tuning ?

Just keep in mind that if yo0u test a stock 330d, that you can almost add another 3rd in torque just using a simple tune, reliably.

I was extremely impressed with the N54 335 that I drove the other day belonging to a mate, my 535i with the N55 is lacking, I am not a major fan...

IM also going to test drive a 335i coupe at the same place how would i see if it is an N54 ?

Its on the tag in the engine bay it is printed.

Main difference is N54 has two turbo's, N55 has a single twin scroll turbo.

The N54 is extremely tuneable, N55 is not, or appears to be not really tuneable...

AFAIK the N54 engine cover says "TwinTurbo Power"

The N55 "TwinPower Turbo"

Might be wrong though

Okay just test drove the 330d........and all I can say is hawwwwt damn that thing has got some serious grunt now to test a 335i ,really loved the torque on the 330d :rollsmile:

If you want to tune. Both will give loads more power on tune, but the 335 is more tuneable, some guys on here put some serious power to the ground.

Hi gents

Sorry i been so quiet lately, been busy with work and all.
So i test drove the 330i,330D and 335i. Man that 335i has some big goonies.
But i found the torque on the 330D just insane and awesome, but the 335i just blasted me into another level, so i decided im going with the 335i option.
Just waiting for the wife to decide on what car she wants, just though i would keep you guys in the loop, when i do get it maby i can join you guys on a run ?

Thought i would revive an old thread, yes i know it has been a while, and haven't been on for a loong time, but finally found my little diamond in the rough if all goes well i will be getting my 335i next week, she is a 2007 model with 118K on the clock, ran the vin number and this one is the n55 motor (Twin turbo). Car has had all its campaigns carried out and has servo steering, M sports pack and the pack that lights up the door handles at night also has the rear window shade, car had its motor plan extended twice and and i will be the second owner.

Congrats again your E90 looks really mooi and clean, blackline tail lights are the business:cartel:.
