A car with 170000km on it will not even be worth R105k...

i think its between 5-6k for 2yrs

This could be worthwhile - but how much do they pay out if something does break? I think the problem with most of these aftermarket warranties is that they only end up paying a percentage of the cost to repair or replace...

Philip, you're right, however the contribution from them is always more than the contract amount so you still win in the event of a major repair..

My dad has one of these plans on his 6. Will check how much the cover/payments are.

I have never purchased a BMW still in plan and never regretted it thus far.

+1 and some

I'm sure a lot of guys can agree with this.

I hate to see guys being taken for a ride. The prices you stated on MP extension seems ludicrous!

You already mentioned the wear and tear items that have been replaced. So the car will be good to go for a long time still.

Then keep it  It won't be that hard to DIY on it. It's always just a time constraint issue.

You know very well the car is good. You know it better than anyone of us. Keep it, and recruit okes if you need a hand, I haven't worked on an e90 yet but I'll be damned if google/TIS/realoem etc can't help you out if you just have some tools and time

If an average joe like me can service an M3 then anyone can  You know you want to.

I'm home next week, I know I've said it before, but def next week sometime.

Well, there is a lot of truth in this! My 330i was bought still under motorplan so at a premium price of course - my Wife's E46 bought a few years after its motorplan had come to an end, so for a much more reasonable price, and over a year later nothing major has had to be done, just the usual wear items. And what I have spent on the car so far is still way below motorplan extension money and the extra premium of buying a car still under motorplan!

Take the R25k you would have wasted on motorplan and put it in another account.
Forget about it until the pawpaw hits the fan.
I am pretty sure you will not have to spent that type of money in 1 year even without motorplan

* Keep car.
* Finish payment on the car. Then its your goods.
* Extend MP for one year at a time as you need it

If I were in your shoes Herr & depending how much I still owe the bank, if its not much, pay it off & the car is mines. If I save R5k a month on repayments, that would be R60k a year.... surely you not gona spend R60k on R&M a year ???

I would only take the car to the stealers for an oil service, for the rest theres Gizmo...
