Decent deal? E90 LCI 320D

Hey all,

So as you guy may know, I am looking at getting my first Beemer and first diesel car.
I am specifically looking for a 320D LCI with xenon's and a sunroof would be great too and I want it in auto.

I stumbled upon a 2010 320D which has the xenon lights, sunroof, sycamore wooden interior (seem rare and I quite like it), it has 111 000KM on the clocks and looks super neat!
Only one owner apparently and no comments with a FSH from BMW.

I may be able to get it for R135k, the car is through a dealership however is currently not on the floor as the front bumper is getting sprayed due to stone chips.

Do you guys feel R135k would be a fair price? It is a bit of a drive from me so I would like to confirm the price before I go take a look and ensure all is good with the car.

I am hoping it will have the N47T engine, being a 2010 model there is a chance it might.

The retail value on the 2011 320d exclusive is around R147k, so for 2010, I don't think R135k is far out... Given the mileage, spec and owner history, I definitely think its worth a look.

There is a shortage of solid 320d's at decent prices.. Maybe get a fanatic that is near the area to have a look for you and then take it from there.. In the mean time, you can ask for the vehicle vin number and check what engine it has online (if it is 2009 build model and registered in 2010, chances are 130kw and N47).. Think the changeover to N47T only happened mid-way through 2010.

Also use the vin to PM Coisman on the forum to have a look at the history for you, if you're keen on the car.

I take it this is non M-sport

If so its decently priced , I would try and get them down to R130k or R135k and they must include all cost

 , I do feel this could be the 130kw motor KPM has it spot on change over was mid 2010

Is book retail really that high on a non m-sport 2011 model? Wow ok, thought it was much less.

Once they have it on their showroom floor the guy will let me know and I will get the VIN number from him and check it out.
Really hoping it is the N47T engine and that it was built later on in 2010.

Not sure I will get it down to R130k, or R135k inclusive of the on-road fee's and such - will take it one step at a time though.

If it does not have the N47T engine, that does put me off a bit. Mostly due to the fact that there have been some known issues on the N47 engine which appear to be corrected on the T variant.

If R135k sounds like a fair price, will continue to pursue the deal.

Share some details on the car..?

Maybe a link to the advert or something, will help people give you some info/advice/etc.. Also get the guy to send pics of the car before the spray work, just for your own peace of mind.

Let me get confirmation about everything first and then will post the link.

The current pictures are of the car before it went to the panel beaters and the front bumper looks fine from what I can tell. No close up of it though.

The whole car looks neat. Only thing missing is the Msport pack & black interior roof.
The biggest thing I'll miss from the Msport pack are the seats as that is more than cosmetic.

So now that the car is back at the dealership, their one colleague is interested in the car and has finance pending on it. A bit unfair they get first preference, doubt they'd be paying the full R150k either.

https://www.autotrader.co.za/cars-f...vbWF0aWMmZnVlbHR5cGU9RGllc2Vs&result-index=12

So the search continues I guess.

That's such a good exclusive spec.. Sorry bud :hammerhead:You're right, they would probably be paying close to what it traded in for, which is like R30k less.. Keep searching, the right one will come up.

Will be sure to add anything worthwhile I come across on your other thread.. Like I said, if a car is far out, chat to a fanatic that can give it a once over and then you make a call.

OP Hang in there man, I know its frustrating. You will find something.

I'm buying a 2011 320d AT individual for R155000 on the road. It has 137 000km on the clock with full service history and new run flat tires. In mint condition.

I do not have any warranty on the vehicle and the dealer wants to sell me one for R12000 do you guys think its worth it? I'm paying cash...

TIA

@KPM_330 Yeah it was a nicely spec'd car and probably my top choice of colour (the dark grey or white).

@AndreX we meet again! haha, yeah. It's getting frustrating, but no real hurry. Still need to finalize a few things on my car before I can sell it anyways.
I think I will only get to selling my car after purchasing a 320D, although at this rate may end up selling my car first and using my bike until the right 320D comes my way.

@rolfnaidoo Does it have the xenon's and sunroof? Being individual I think it will have the electronic seats at least. I would also recommend you take a look at this site: http://www.realoem.com and see when it was manufactured and which engine it has (N47N is the newer one, the preferred revision).
Also depending on how urgently you want to get a car would depend on whether it's a good deal or not and what spec car you're looking for.
With regards to the warranty, my friend and I have used SA Warranty (now under M-Sure) and have not had any issues. Look into this warranty and then decide, but to sum it up - 2 years, unlimited mileage warranty which does cover wear & tear (such as a clutch), you can put your claim in and have the work done at any RMI approved mechanic. There is a list of what exactly is covered and what is not - when you sign up they send you a booklet which further breaks down what exactly is and is not covered.
They are generally pretty quick to approve / reject claims.

My friend purchased a Fiat panel van end of last year, his cam chain snapped while he was on the highway. The repairs came to around R8/R9k - new cam chain, new casing, flushing the engine etc. and they approved it without issues. He has put in a few claims on his previous cars as well and they were accepted without issues.

Keep the claim as simple as possible, do not type out a long story. State what is broken / damaged and what is needed to resolve it ie. clutch is worn. Needs to be replaced with a new clutch.

Thank you for your info, it was helpful. It is the exclusive pack...dealer corrected the info...it has a sunroof, xenon headlamps and electric seats I checked the site you suggested using the VIN number and it reported the engine as N47N. I will look into the warranty you also suggested.

Thanks :)

Nice, it sounds well spec'd and the N47T (N47N) engine is the one you want.

I think the on the road fee's are around R5k? So you need to decide how long you want to wait to try find a better deal and then whether you are happy to pay that for the car.

That price is above the retail book value if I am not mistaken.

One can hope, let's see. Even a drop to the retail bookvalue would be nice.

It seems we might be looking at the same model and specs.
Let me know if you see anything worthwhile.
Which province are you in? :)

Gauteng. Centurion to be precise.
Where are you? You know, so we don't compete for the same car.
