Hi Gents,

Who can i call for a quote on decatt and full free flow for my car?
What are the benefits of the decatt and who has done it already?
This is my daily ride.

Thanks

Free Flow on Auto, No. Gonna drone. Decat call PowerFlow. About R600. Decat = better throttle response, bit more power and better fuel consumption. Just decide if you want to replace with straight pipes or resonators

I hear you on the drone with the auto. What about if one kept the standard exhaust and did branches and decat? Or is there no point to the branches without the freeflow?

No branches will very much help. Especially if the branches houses cats as well. So decat and branches great combo

Thanks Chris, so this is my action plan;

#Decat
#Branches
#Chip and dyno
#Cold-Air intake (+ heatshield)

Not so keen on the performance filters because everyone says they just let in more dirt...

On the e36 the branches are pretty decent as they are, not really sure if there is much to gain from fitting different ones, but on the e46 with the M54 engine that has cats in the branches you have more to gain.

Thanks guys.
Was wondering if anyone has done a Decatur on an auto as I don't want that drone sound.

Good point Sankekur, I remember reading somewhere that E36 328s had catless headers so that was my next question. Does this go for all M52s?

Anyway it looks like my power options list is getting smaller...

As far as I know, yes, I think even the e46's with the M52 motor came with the same catless branches, at least I know our e46 328i is like that.

Depends on how much noise you want. Like mentioned, if you have an auto, rather have resonators fitted.

More power, better fuel consumption, oh, and LOUDER :)

I would also like to DeCat my 325ci and do Branches and Pipe?

Go right ahead :) Decat can be done by yourself if you can swing a grinder and a welder.

Alternatively any xorst shop can do it.

resonators will give you a deeper tone... if you want it really deep you could even put a free flow box in where the cats were...

Personally I want the M3 induction note and exhaust tone, not loud but visceral and purposeful.

-1 on the auto drone...

I decatted my 2001 325i Auto, but just the ones in the exhaust manifold. I did mine at Robbie Virroli's shop in Bellville. Just removed the cats and closed up the holes again.

She had better throttle response and fuel consumption. Just had a rough iddle for about a minute when started, but then the ECU adjusted accordingly. Mine didnt drone, it did amplify the sound of the I6 a bit more thou which I loved. And when you hit the kickdown, she would really scream...

I just had my 320i done at Powerflow in Salt River, awesome service and great results. Cut all 4 out and fitted 2 resonators where the bottom cats used to be. If you dont fit those resonators you will get a more tinny sound when putting foot which i didnt really want, i prefer to deep note it makes. Full freeflow will cost you some cause it is dual pipes all the way from the engine to the back. If you are in the cape try give Gerrard a call at Powerflow 0214481325.

hi

I had my 325Ci decat and full exhaust done at powerpipes in Mayfair. just the back cats removed and from there a 2 pipe system (2 boxes) converging into a single pipe/box at the end with chrome tailpipes. Awesome sound, much like the 335i, just a tad bit deeper, six cylinder sound. It does drone a bit on low speeds like from 40 to 100, but once over 120 or in top gear its silent until you put your foot down then its unleashes a beast :)

Would the exhaust manfold off an E36 M3(s50/s52) work on the m54? If it does then it would be better than the catless branches off a 328. J
