Hi Guys and Girls!!

Maybe this was asked before....

Planning to decat my E39 1997 528i with now 174000km on the clock.

I cannot find any wires after or on the cats.
My "Lambda sensors" are just "after" the manifolds...

Most places wants to keep the dead cats so they can sell it. The guys I want to take it to claims to get nothing more that R 300.

Should I keep the dead cats and if so what do I do with it?

I am planning to fit 2X "resonators" (I think that is what it is called?)

Any advice please?

Do it. those are probably clogged up quite good by now. the service life is 160 000km on those. If no sensors after de cats, there should be no problems. Fitting boxes will help keep the sound closer to what it is now.

the thing im worried about is that at some stage SA will put in emissions testing obviously this will be a money making government scheme but then i will have my cats and can mod the exhaust so i can put them on for testing then take them off after

prices are bad now imagine if they decided we need testing... R300 is nothing to pay for them so why not?

You are 100% correct!! Imagine DeCatting and giving the cat away to suddenly be forced to pay emission taxes.... Question is: will a dead cat help anyway at all??

Final question... Should I go for resonators or straight pipe?

I noticed that the two pipes coming from the manifolds are different sizes, anyone else noticed that? (E39 1997 528i 176000km)

Wife lost her job, no budget to fix what is not broken.
