Daytime Driving Lights

Hey,

Does anyone know what the DRL's in SA should look like?

I see some E90's with the "Halo's" as well as the Xenon's on and some others with just the "Halo's"?

I've set mine on the OBC, but do you need to switch the light switch to any position to activate? If I switch it to automatic, the Xenon's come on together with the "Halo's" and stay on!

Please help.

Jey Jastam!

No, nothing yet. Some other issues as well and it all seems related. My 40s delay for the "walk home" light are also not working.

On my OBC the TPI and Lock/Unlock Menu options disappear intermittently! The seat memory for the specific key is stored in the memory and my doors' automatic lock as well. It's just the DRL's and 40s delay that does not work.

On my previous visit to BMW they said that they need more time to troubleshoot????

The walk me home function should be set by the dealer. Also using different keys might give different results every time.

I set my 40s to 10s to test it and I'm still waiting. Maybe I need to go to the dealer the set it for me. By the way, does the DRL only work on the xenon's cause I tried it on mine and still struggle. On auto the light go on park the outer circle goes on but doesnt switch of when you remove key and lock. Think I need a crash course.

I got it!

If you set DRL on the OBC, then switch the light-switch to the "A" automatic position and the lights stay at all times. Switch the DRL's off on the OBC and the "A" automatic light sensor will only activate the headlights in low light conditions.

Bad thing is that the Xenon's come on as well!

On my M3 with Xenons, the rings come on when the switch is on the "A" position with DRL activated, and in low light conditions the Xenons switch on. On my wife's X1 when switch is on the "A" position the full headlights come on, when I called BMW and queried why not just the rings(or park lights) go on in the day and they said that its not available on models with non-xenons(friends 325i same issue) however according to BMW the DRL lights that do come on are dimmer that the normal headlights that switch on in low light conditions. I have yet to confirm this.

Hope it make sense. I want to change it the X1, so that the rings come only with DRL, but am still trying to figure out how.

I am sure it can be changed with software, will let you know.

On th X5 with xenons the "Halo's" have a dimmer Park light function and a brighter day time function.
Dipped beam should be off for Day time running lights as far as I know.

X5 probably different, X1 definatley doesnt keep the halos on with DRL.

my dads e60 525i, when you set DRL on in iDrive, and put the lights to the auto setting then when the cars on the headlights & rings are on.
When you set lights to on possition then all is on but can leave it there and they turn off when you lock car.
When you set DRL off in iDrive & put lights to Auto setting then they will come on when its dark. but then you do not have DRL activated..

Next time it goes in will ask them to sort it out..
