Daylight running lights...confused

I've wondered about this for a while now, maybe you guys know the answer to this.

On my 320d LCI (halogen) daylight running lights are enabled in the setting menu. If I put the switch on "0" no lights come on. When I switch it to "Auto" the angel-eyes + dims turns on, whether I'm in daylight or in shade. I can only get the angel-eyes alone if I turn the switch to "Parking Lights".

The 320i loaner I got has Xenon. On "0" or "Auto" only the angel-eyes are on and dims only activate when driving into "shaded" areas.

Why can't I get angel-eyes ONLY on "0" and "Auto" on my car? Why does the dims also turn on?

Thanks @ri. :(

:D Hey, it's not too expensive :)

True, but I was kind of hoping it was something I was doing wrong. Did not know the Halogens do not make use of the angel-eyes alone as DRLs.

I would ask the dealer, maybe a software upgrade can fix this.

I can only try. :) Will ask them when I collect my car.

Dealers are usually no help whatsoever when it comes to coding..

If it is something that can be enabled in Autologic then you would be lucky :) maybe one of the guys on the forums who dabbles with it would know?

Hey @ri
Did you come right with disabling the Dipped beams on DRLs?

Just wire up the angels to a 12V power source like your lighter so that they're on all the time essentially DRL's :)

Same on my 335: "I can only get the angel-eyes alone if I turn the switch to "Parking Lights"..."

But I like it like this

Its BMW's way of punnishing for not getting the Xenons :)

My Old e90 323i with xenons had a different issue I setting the daytime running lights on or putting the light switch to full on was the same

Never bothered upgrading the software though
