hi guys.need sum advice..i have a e36 316i...as i was driving all my gauges went down an my dashlights went on bt the car ddnt switch off..oil light,battery light etc...went on an my rev counter,speedo,temp an petrol gauge went off...thn evryting was fine again ...i just drove on...wot could it b...thanx

Loose connection, short, could be anything. Does it happen frequently or just this one occurrence?

Anyone work on your car recently? Same thing happened on my car with a loose battery terminal. Whenever there was a load on the system then my dash used to light up.

Ok well we have a couple of possibilities here so a few things to check. Do a binnacle test to check the dials are ok. Then open the boot and check the cable that runs into the boot lid for the number plate lights, you will need to pull down the black sheath and check for broken wires (very often this is the cause for your issue) then if these are ok take out the shotgun seat(passenger seat next to the drivers) lift the carpet and check the ground terminals there(these often corrode causing electrical gremlins) :thumbs:

it happen twice so far...will check my batt terminals tmrw...i checked all the fuses an things..
